About me

Hello, my name is Tomas Jason Roberts. I am an animator based in South Wales and I have recently completed a Master's Degree in Animation at the University of South Wales in September 2023.

 

I have a passion for illustration and animation, which comes from growing up with various animated franchises. As well as creating my own characters, stories and worlds in my own spare time, I also enjoy working with clients to produce products and merchandise with studios such as AfroSheep.

 

One thing that makes me unique is that I am on the Autistic Spectrum. Rather than view it as a barrier, I see this as a gift that I cherish, and with a great gift comes endless possibilities. I believe this encourages my creativity, which has helped me to pursue my career as an animator and character designer. Many creatives have lived with the traits that come with autism and they have not been held back by the challenges that accompany the condition.

 

These include actor and comedian, Dan Aykroyd, film producer and  director, Tim Burton, entrepreneur and multi-billionaire Bill Gates and co-creator of Rick and Morty, Dan Harmon.

Primarily, I specialise in Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony and TV Paint for animation and I am confident in After Effects as well. I also specialise in Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Fresco and ProCreate for character and background design, as well as concept art and storyboarding.
